Eating Disorders
Eating disorders cause a lot of emotional distress. They result in anxiety, low self-esteem, feelings of helplessness and loss of control, shame and intense self criticism.
Calorie restriction, binge eating and/or compensatory behaviors (vomiting, use of laxatives, and excessive exercise) all have a profound emotional and physical impact on a person.
Food can be all consuming and the preoccupation, worry, and ruminations about food can affect all areas of life, including relationships and career.
